This past week my daughter and I have been staying with some lovely friends of ours in my hometown of Swindon whilst my husband is away on a business trip to India. I decided as we were in the area it would be a good opportunity to check out the local vintage scene, and we were not disappointed! Although we didn't find the time to make it to all of the vintage shops in the area during this visit, we did go along to a lovely vintage fair right in the heart of Old Town.
'Vintage to The Core' is a monthly vintage fair held above The Core on Devizes Road which has been set up to help raise funds for Empower projects in rural Gambia. Held between 11am and 4pm on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month, it boasts a lovely selection of high street and designer fashion and homewares, all with a vintage twist and very reasonably priced. Each of the stalls were set up with different themes and all of the clothes were size ordered, making it really easy to get yourself a find without the effort of hunting through everything. I was also impressed that there was a fair amount of children's items available, as it's often a struggle to find vintage looking kidswear. I even managed to get Amelie a gorgeous little pair of black patent t-bar shoes which she absolutely adores!
It's safe to say that our future visits to the area will definitely be timed around the first weekend of the month! Be sure to head over to Empower's Facebook page to find out more about the work which they are doing as well as other vintage events in the area. You can also follow them on Twitter, just follow the link!
